100% pure Indian kala namak, commonly called Himalayan Black Salt, comes from the regions surrounding the Himalayas and has a distinctive umami-like flavor similar to hard boiled eggs due to its trace amounts of sulfur compounds. Himalayan black salt tends to naturally have less sodium than common salt.
Black salt contains several minerals, including iron, as well as potassium which is crucial in regulating muscle functioning and helping to absorb other minerals.
Sprinkle on salads and fruits, and add to curries, chutneys and buttermilk. No anti-caking agents added. Lumps may form, which is natural and normal.
This is different than Hawaiian Black Salt, which is sea salt with charcoal mixed in.
